Is an Instant Boiling Water Tap worth the Cost?
A boiling water tap, once the latest innovation in the kitchen, are now a fully established kitchen gadget. There’s still a lot of hype surrounding the appliance, about the efficiency, the convenience and sleek design. But ignoring the hype. There’s a lot of important and valid questions about boiling water taps that need to be answered. And that’s why we’re here!
If you’ve found this blog, you probably already know what one is and are looking to buy one for your home or kitchen renovation. So I’ll skip all the spiel and get straight to the point!
Why should I buy a boiling water tap?
Boiling water taps are an incredibly handy appliance. You can get instant boiling water, cold water and warm water at just the twist or tap of the handle. It saves you time, energy and water. And it looks fantastic too!
Energy efficient & less wastage.
With a boiling water tap, you can get the exact amount of boiling water you need without any water wastage. Change to the hot water function on your tap an have instant boiling water. So there’s barely any wastage, and you’ll see the benefit in your monthly energy costs.

The added convenience of a boiling water tap is beneficial too. If you’re a tea & coffee lover, there’s no more waiting around for the kettle to boil. Things to consider…
Are you a in hard water or soft water area?
If you’re in a hard water area, you may need to invest in more filters to prevent a limescale build up. Otherwise your tap can get scaly and cause blockages which you may need to treat with a descale kit to rid your tap of built up limescale.
The tank takes up space
The addition of the tap does reduces the need and space for a kettle. You will still need to store the tank hidden under your countertop. For some people this can take up valuable storage space. But do bear in mind that the tank isn’t that large!
Why is this better than a kettle?

How long should a boiling water tap last me?
The same as a tap, a boiling water tap can last you about 10-15 years with the correct care and maintenance. If you have a filter for the tap, you’re meant to replace this every six months according to the manufacturer. However this can vary depending on the tap and the water in your area.
Care and maintenance may only mean consistent cleaning of parts, as well as the replacement of old parts that may not work. A good thing with the boiling water taps, is that there should never be a need to replace the entire unit unless it gets really damaged. Each individual part should be easily replaceable.
