Wine Cooler FAQs
If you’re looking to purchase a wine cooler, or have one already but want to know more about it, you’re in the right place. We’re going to look at some of the most frequently asked questions about wine coolers and help you better understand what they are and how they work.
What is the perfect temperature for a wine cooler?
Most wine coolers can be set to a variety of temperatures so it’s important to know what temperature your wine cooler should be for optimal storing that preserves the taste, flavour, and balance of each bottle. The average wine cooler has a temperature range of anything from 5°C to 20°C, so there is quite a lot of margin for error.
As a general rule, the ideal serving temperature for red wine is between 12°C – 19°C, and for white wine, 8°C – 12°C. This does vary however, depending on the type of wine (not just the colour) – our tool will tell you the perfect temperature for all types of wine.
What wine cooler is the best?
This depends on what you want from your wine cooler. We can’t answer this for you as your preferences should be the key factor in which model you choose. The best wine coolers will be energy efficient, look sleek and refined, have plenty of capacity in relation to its size, and will most likely have features like a digital display, or dual temperature zones.
How much do wine coolers cost?
Prices can range from around £300 to a couple of thousand pounds or more. This means it’s important to decide how much you want to spend before you begin shopping. It’s important to note that higher priced models generally offer more storage space and better features.

What are some common wine cooler issues?
Let’s look at some of the issues that wine cooler owners face, and how to avoid them.
Temperature Issues
Serving wine at the wrong temperature can affect its flavour. If you’re having temperature issues with your appliance then there may be a quick solution to help you fix your cooler. Firstly, check the door to ensure it closes correctly and the seal is not damaged. If this isn’t the problem, the issue might be electrical. If your wine cooler is experiencing electrical issues, you could take a look at it yourself if you back your electrician skills. Otherwise, best to consult your wine cooler manufacturer or call in some pros. You’d rather let a professional get it backup and running than make the problem worse..and possibly beyond repair.
Humidity
Your wine needs a certain level of humidity to maintain balance and flavour, and if you are noticing that the humidity within your cooler isn’t at the ideal level this is likely to be an issue with your door or seal again. If this is the case it’s important to have the door/seal replaced as soon as possible, but in the mean time you can place a bowl of water inside your cooler. This water will evaporate and increase humidity levels.
