A little History as De Dietrich returns

Appliance city are pleased to announce the return of De Dietrich products. Previously proving highly popular, the new 2015/16 collection is now on display in our  showroom and available through the Appliance City website.

For over 300 years De Dietrich have been focussing on innovation, technological advances and quality, originally basing itself in the ironworks trade.  De Dietrich was established in 1684 as Johann De Dietrich acquired the Jaegerthal forge. (See picture of  Jaegrethal forge ruins below).  In 1719 the family is made Baron, a title of honour given by the Holy roman empire.

In 1749-1751 Baron Jean De Dietrich (the grandson of Johann) lives within the castle and gardens of Château de la Cour d’Angleterre, which was originally built as a summer house by Jean himself. Since 1949 the chateau remained under control of Direction départementale des Affaires sanitaires et sociales and the criminal justice system. the building was later  registered as a historic monument in 1995.  (See picture of Baron Jean De Deitrich below.) 

In 1761 Louis XI makes Baron Jean De Dietrich Count du Ban De La Roche, he subsequently becomes the largest land owner in Alsace, and further expands by purchasing buildings and other forges.  He is now known as “The king of Iron”. The De Deitrich hunting horn logo is considered a stamp of quality from 1778.

In 1806, the business expanded to include mechanic construction and railways with the Ettore Bugatti partnership forming some ninety years later, producing the first Bugatti automobile. (Etorre Bugatti pictured below in 1932 and alongside the first automobile). De Dietrich were then quick to enter the consumables market, with the launch taking place in 1902. Subsequently, the launch of the worlds first wood and coal cooker, Mertzwiller 1910 (Pictured third below.)

De Deitrich have always maintained their passion for innovation and development, looking back it isn’t surprising to see the launch of the first ever Pyroclean, self cleaning ovens to the market (1968) followed by induction technology (1987) and a natural progression to steam ovens and cool touch doors. In 1999 the28cm induction zone was launched – the largest on the market at the time.

The consumables developments and introductions followed in quick succession;

2000 – The launch of touch control oven technology

2001 – Induction hobs launches with 3.6kW boost system

2003 – The worlds first ever intelligent and fully automatic cooking system is launched

2004 – The launch of a double oven with Pyroclean and multifunctions in both cavities

2005 – De Dietrich joins Mondragon Corporation

2006 – Introduction of the first free standing cooker with pyroclean oven and induction hob

2007 – De Dietrich launches the first ever zoneless induction hob

2009 – De Dietrich launches an intelligent oven with intuitive full colour display and tilting panel.

2010 – De Dietrich launches a Compact Touch Control Multifunction Pyroclean with Steam Functions.

2011 -De Dietrich unveils the unique and revolutionary Piano: the most advanced zoneless induction hob ever brought to market.

It’s clear to see that there De Dietrich has quite some history. Throughout the years they’ve impressively remained ahead and loyal to both their passion and claims of continued innovation and technological advances and not jut in consumables.
